The commercial dominance of the ’50s was due to the fact that the rest of the world was recovering from the destruction of World War II. No trade protectionism is going to bring back the Rust Belt any more than unionism will. When you think about it, Progressives are the real reactionaries.

A round-table discussion at The Buckley Lounge.Should conservatives back a third party in 2016 and beyond? ¶ Donald Trump is likely to represent the Republican Party in 2016. Even if he somehow loses the nomination, we will still have to deal with the ramifications of the fact that a very large percentage of the Republican base is not repulsed by the xenophobia, racism and disregard for conservative ideology that his candidacy represents. ¶ So what should we do?
